Social activist asks St Pete court to ban Facebook in Russia

ST. PETERSBURG, Nov 30 (PRIME) -- The St. Petersburg City Court registered on Wednesday a lawsuit from social activist Timur Bulatov to ban social network Facebook in Russia, the court’s press secretary Darya Lebedeva told PRIME.

“As the law says, the suit will be considered during five days, and a decision on hearings will be made,” Lebedeva said.

Bulatov disclosed the lawsuit’s text on his social network VK page. He asks the court to immediately ban Facebook or oblige it to respect the country’s laws. The author accuses the resource of violating the law on personal data of Russians and distribution of “immoral and anti-family ideologies.”

“The social network facebook.com carries an evident threat to national security of the Russian Federation and should be blocked for all users in the country in compliance with the laws of the Russian Federation,” Bulatov said.
